Dearest Saints of St. Paul’s,
“All I have and all that I am are gifts from God.”
I saw this statement recently at a Diocesan stewardship workshop and thought it beautifully summarizes the many gifts that we both give and receive in this life. To emphasize this thought, “The Gifts of St. Paul’s” was chosen as the theme for this year’s stewardship campaign.
We will be celebrating our many blessings at this year’s stewardship celebration scheduled for 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 7 in the Parish Hall. Pledge cards will be available that evening, or will be mailed for those who cannot attend.
And boy do we have a lot to celebrate!! In the last couple of years, the church has:
• Hired a Director of Youth Ministry and reconvened a Vacation Bible School. • Increased our Outreach efforts and commitment to the community; in 2009, Outreach giving was up to 7.5% of our annual operating budget! • Seen an increase in the number of new people coming into the church. • Had fun and celebrated our fellowship with such events as Mardi Gras, Pentecost, the Church Picnic, Launching Sunday, and Advent Festival. • Improved its property by stabilizing our steeple, adding a beautiful grand piano, installing room dividers in the Parish Hall, upgrading our kitchen with a commercial grade stove, new sink and dishwasher, and extending our welcome through and an improved web page and new signage soon to come. • Restarted our Eucharistic Visitor ministry to share communion with those unable to come to church. • Stretched our welcome by holding services out on the labyrinth during the summer months. • Received the highest pledge total ever in 2008 which is helping us to meet all our financial obligations even in the face of one of the worst recessions in recent memory!
The list just seems to go on and on – reminding us of all the gifts available through God’s abundant love.
Come help us celebrate on Wednesday, October 7 and join the other “Saints of St. Paul’s” at “in-gathering Sunday” October 25, when we will offer our gifts to God.
With faith, love and gratitude,
Ginny Ford Senior Warden & Stewardship Chair for 2009
