Pre-Earth Day, Tree Planting

With North Olympic Salmon Coalition (NOSC),

The Broader Faith Community of East Jefferson County, and Others

WHEN: Saturday, April 18, 2015

WHERE: Finnriver Farm, 62 Barn Swallow Rd., Chimacum

9:30 a.m.: Welcome and interfaith reflection

10:00: Begin tree planting with NOSC

2:00 p.m.: Finish work with NOSC then closing, interfaith reflection

WHAT TO BRING: The Salmon Coalition will be providing tools and gloves, but please

bring your own if you are able. You’ll also need durable shoes (rubber boots are preferable), warm/waterproof layers, water, and a lunch.

The Saturday before Earth Day, come roll up your sleeves and help care for creation in east Jefferson County!  Our day will begin and end with interfaith reflections to bless the work at hand.  In between these times, we will work with North Olympic Salmon Coalition to help restore vital riparian habitat on Chimacum Creek at Finnriver Farm. We will help to replenish the area with native trees and shrubs that provide erosion control, shade (needed to keep our waters cold enough for salmon), and terrestrial insects for salmon to feed on as they make their trip to the ocean.
